Frequently Asked Questions

From implants to orthodontics, what people ask about treatment

We have answered the questions our patients ask most, based on our clinical experience. If you cannot find yours, ask us directly on WhatsApp.

The cost of implant treatment depends on the implant brand, the number of implants placed, the type of restoration above them (single crown, bridge or denture) and any additional surgery required, such as bone grafting or a sinus lift. Because these variables cannot be known without an examination and an X-ray, a single figure quoted by phone or online does not reflect reality. After an intraoral assessment and a panoramic X-ray your treatment plan is drawn up, and the cost is shared with you in writing on the basis of that plan.

Yes. Because zirconium transmits light, crowns made from it look very close to natural teeth and perform well aesthetically. Care is the same as for natural teeth: regular brushing, daily flossing and a dental check-up every six months keep them healthy for many years.

For the first 24-48 hours after whitening it is important to avoid strongly coloured food and drink such as coffee, tea and red wine. Stopping or reducing smoking also helps the result last longer. Keeping up your normal oral hygiene routine preserves the effect over time.

Smile design means analysing the harmony between your teeth, gums, lips and facial structure in order to create a smile suited to you. Several methods may be combined in the process: porcelain laminates, zirconium crowns, whitening or orthodontic treatment. You can get detailed information about smile design at our clinic in İstanbul.

Prompt treatment matters in emergencies such as unexpected toothache, a broken tooth or a lost filling. Our clinic provides emergency dental care so that patients in İstanbul can have their pain addressed as quickly as possible. Please contact us directly in an emergency.

Yes. Clear aligner treatment, an aesthetic alternative to conventional fixed braces, is carried out at our clinic. Because the trays are almost invisible, teeth can be straightened without affecting your daily life. Contact our clinic in İstanbul for an aligner treatment plan tailored to you.

For the first 24 hours after an extraction you should keep the gauze pad in place to control bleeding, avoid drinking through a straw and stay away from foods that irritate the site. Healing usually takes 3-7 days, although complete healing of bone and soft tissue can take several weeks. Maintaining oral hygiene and following your dentist's advice are important.

When choosing a dentist for a child, it matters that the clinic offers a child-friendly environment, that the dentist is experienced in paedodontics (children's dentistry) and that they communicate well with your child. Our clinic provides a calm, welcoming setting to help protect your children's dental health.

Bleeding gums are usually a sign of gingivitis — gum inflammation caused by inadequate oral hygiene. In more serious cases they can indicate advanced gum disease such as periodontitis. At our clinic in İstanbul we diagnose the cause of the bleeding and restore gum health through scaling, curettage or other appropriate treatment.

Yes, panoramic X-rays are taken at our clinic. A panoramic film is an important diagnostic tool that shows all the teeth, the jawbones and the surrounding tissues in a single wide-angle image. It plays a critical role in diagnosing impacted teeth, cysts, tumours and infections, and in planning implant and orthodontic treatment.

A bridge and an implant are two different ways of replacing a missing tooth. An implant mimics the natural tooth root without harming the neighbouring teeth, whereas a bridge requires those teeth to be reduced in size. The choice depends on your jaw structure, your general health and your budget. At our clinic in İstanbul we decide on the most suitable plan together with you after a detailed examination.

Orthodontic treatment matters not only for aesthetic reasons but also for health: it improves chewing function, helps correct speech problems and makes oral hygiene easier. Crowded teeth can increase the risk of gum disease and decay. Our clinic in İstanbul offers both aesthetic and functional solutions.

Fear of the dentist (dental phobia) is common. To help you overcome it, our clinic offers options including local anaesthesia, sedation (conscious relaxation) and general anaesthesia. We also aim to minimise anxiety by providing a calm and understanding environment, with dedicated appointment arrangements and information for patients with dental phobia.

A composite filling is made from a tooth-coloured resin material that bonds chemically to the tooth. It looks better than an amalgam (dark) filling and contains no mercury. If you wish to replace old amalgam fillings for aesthetic or health reasons, we can assess them at our clinic.

Teeth grinding (bruxism) can lead to serious problems such as tooth wear, jaw pain and headaches. For bruxism our clinic offers a night guard (splint), advice on stress management and, in some cases, botulinum applications. Visit us so that the cause of your complaint can be identified and a suitable plan prepared.

Yes, you can easily request an appointment from our clinic online. Choose a day and time that suits you and complete your request in a few steps, or contact us by phone or WhatsApp. We offer flexible appointment times to fit around a busy schedule in İstanbul.

Yes, we actively use current digital dentistry technology. Instead of conventional impressions we take more comfortable and precise measurements with intraoral scanners, and with CAD/CAM systems we can design and produce restorations such as porcelain laminates, zirconium crowns and inlays/onlays. This shortens treatment time and improves the fit of the result.

Your health and satisfaction after treatment are a priority for us. Guarantee terms apply to certain procedures, and we follow your recovery closely through regular check-ups afterwards. Please ask us for details of the guarantee and follow-up terms that apply to your treatment.

Hygiene standards are among the most critical factors when choosing a dentist. Our clinic follows the disinfection and sterilisation protocols set by the Turkish Ministry of Health. We use single-use equipment and modern sterilisation devices to protect our patients' health. You are welcome to observe the importance we place on hygiene when you visit.

Absolutely. Our clinic offers comprehensive care for general dental health and routine check-ups, not only aesthetic procedures. Through scaling, treatment of decay, root canal treatment, fillings and regular examinations we aim to protect your oral health over the long term.

Modern anaesthesia techniques and a patient-focused approach allow us to complete treatment with minimal discomfort. If you feel any discomfort during a procedure we stop, make you comfortable and then continue.

In certain suitable cases, single-session implant placement is possible at our clinic. It requires a specific assessment, so please contact us for details.

Our current opening hours are published on the contact page and in the site footer. For a weekend appointment request, call us on 0212 545 11 88 or message our WhatsApp line; we arrange the closest available time subject to availability.

Brushing is essential for preventing decay and gum disease. Brushing with the correct technique at least twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, is recommended.

Yes, laser-assisted procedures are available at our clinic for certain gum treatments and filling procedures. Laser technology can make treatment more comfortable and shorten healing time.

The first examination usually takes 15-20 minutes. During this time we carry out an intraoral assessment, take an X-ray if needed and identify the cause of your complaint. The examination is the basis of treatment planning: which procedures are required, how long they will take and what they cost all become clear afterwards. You can ask about the current examination fee when booking your appointment.

Porcelain laminate veneers are a minimally invasive treatment that improves the appearance of the front teeth quickly. Our clinic in İstanbul carries out laminate work with an experienced team and current equipment. Book an appointment for a smile design tailored to you.

In-office whitening is a professional procedure carried out at the clinic in a single session, giving a faster and more pronounced result. At-home whitening uses custom trays prepared at the clinic and applied by you at home, producing results over a longer period. Which method suits you is decided after an assessment by the dentist.

Mild pain, swelling or bruising in the first few days after implant treatment is normal and can be managed with the medication prescribed. These usually settle within a short time. Please do not hesitate to contact our clinic if you have any concerns or severe pain.

Root canal treatment is the cleaning and disinfection of infected or damaged pulp (the nerves and blood vessels) inside the tooth. With modern anaesthesia techniques the procedure is generally painless. Mild sensitivity may follow, but it is temporary.

Crowns are used to restore decayed, broken or weakened teeth, while bridges replace missing teeth by drawing support from the neighbouring ones. With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, crowns and bridges can last 10-15 years. At our clinic we restore both the function and the appearance of your teeth with solutions suited to you.

No, there is no age limit in orthodontic treatment. Adults achieve successful results with fixed braces and, where appearance is a concern, with clear aligners. You can get detailed information about adult orthodontic options at our clinic in İstanbul.

Sensitivity can arise from worn enamel or receding gums. At home you can use a toothpaste formulated for sensitivity or a fluoride mouthwash. A lasting solution, however, requires a dental examination: sensitivity can be a sign of a more serious problem.

The cost is set according to the plan drawn up after your examination and, where needed, an X-ray; since the number of procedures and the materials used differ from person to person, quoting a single figure beforehand would be misleading. Once your plan is ready, the cost is shared with you in writing. For current payment options please call us on 0212 545 11 88.

Choose a brush with a small head and soft or medium bristles. Hold the brush at a 45-degree angle to the gum line and clean every surface with gentle circular movements. Brush at least twice a day for two minutes. We are happy to demonstrate the technique that suits you at the clinic.

The most common causes of bad breath are inadequate oral hygiene, gum disease, decay and bacteria on the tongue. More rarely it can stem from a systemic condition. At our clinic we identify the source and help resolve it through professional cleaning, treatment of decay or other appropriate measures.

A dental abscess is a pocket of infection arising from the tooth or gum, and it can cause severe pain. Yes, it is a serious condition requiring prompt treatment: left untreated, the infection can spread. You can arrange a prompt appointment for abscess treatment through our emergency dental service.

Wisdom teeth are usually removed when there is not enough room in the jaw, or when they cause pain or infection or damage the neighbouring teeth. Recovery varies from person to person, but relief is generally felt within a few days. Following your dentist's advice and maintaining oral hygiene speed up healing.

Yes, our clinic provides prompt treatment for emergencies such as sudden or severe toothache, with priority appointment arrangements for patients in İstanbul. If you are in pain, please contact us without delay.

Smile design means bringing the shape, colour and position of your teeth into harmony with your facial features. With digital smile design you can see the intended result before treatment begins. The process generally involves a detailed analysis, treatment planning (laminates, zirconium, whitening and so on) and the treatment itself. Our clinic in İstanbul offers solutions tailored to you.

Professional in-office whitening takes about 45-60 minutes at our clinic. How long the result lasts depends on your oral hygiene, diet and whether you smoke; on average it ranges from six months to two years. Regular care and check-ups extend the effect.

Our clinic is at Cumhuriyet Meydanı, Karabeyoğlu İş Merkezi No:1, 34245 Gaziosmanpaşa/İstanbul, on Cumhuriyet Square. Because it is in central Gaziosmanpaşa, bus and minibus routes from the surrounding neighbourhoods stop nearby. If you are driving, street parking is available around the square. For the exact location and directions please use the map on our contact page, or call us on 0212 545 11 88.

Please bring any previous dental records you have, a list of the medicines you take and details of any medical condition. Our team will help you through the first examination and make the process as comfortable as possible. We look forward to welcoming you to our clinic in İstanbul.

The cost of implant treatment depends on the number of implants, the type of restoration placed on top (single crown, bridge or denture) and whether additional surgery such as bone grafting or a sinus lift is required. These can only be established after an examination and a panoramic X-ray. Once your treatment plan is prepared, the total cost and the stages involved are shared in writing; payment terms can be discussed at your appointment.

For emergencies such as severe pain, a broken tooth, a lost filling or an injury after a blow, you can call us directly on 0212 545 11 88 or message our WhatsApp line. Once you describe the problem briefly, we arrange the earliest suitable appointment within working hours. Painkillers reduce the symptom temporarily but do not remove its cause, so we advise getting in touch without waiting.

Recovery depends on the type of treatment. After a simple filling you can return to your usual routine immediately, whereas implant or surgical procedures may require a few days of rest. Your dentist will explain your recovery and what to watch for in detail after treatment.

Insurance coverage for dental treatment depends on the type of policy you hold and whether it includes dental cover; some policies cover only examinations and emergency procedures. The most reliable information therefore comes from your insurer. To find out which providers our clinic works with, please call us on 0212 545 11 88.

For a single implant the surgery usually takes 20–40 minutes. The determining factor is osseointegration — fusion with the jawbone — which averages 2–3 months in the lower jaw and 3–4 months in the upper jaw. Bone grafting or sinus lifting can extend this. A temporary prosthesis protects your appearance during healing.

In patients with good oral hygiene and regular six-monthly check-ups, implants are known to last 20 years or more. The implant itself cannot decay; its lifespan depends on the health of the surrounding gum and bone. Smoking and uncontrolled diabetes are the main factors that reduce success rates.

Root canal treatment is performed under local anaesthesia, so no pain is felt during the procedure. The pain beforehand comes from inflamed nerve tissue, and the treatment removes it. Mild tenderness may last 2–3 days afterwards and is easily controlled with prescribed painkillers.

Metal-supported porcelain is durable but can develop a grey line at the gum margin over time and does not transmit light like a natural tooth. Zirconium contains no metal, avoids these issues and has light transmission closer to natural teeth. Zirconium is usually preferred at the front; either may be suitable at the back depending on the case.

Whitening performed by a dentist with an appropriate gel concentration does not cause permanent damage to enamel. Sensitivity to hot and cold for a few days afterwards is normal and temporary. Risk arises from uncontrolled products bought online and from repeated application, which is why an examination always precedes whitening.

Clear aligners are preferred by adults because they are invisible and removable, but they must be worn at least 20–22 hours a day. For complex crowding, advanced bite problems and impacted teeth, braces still give a more predictable result. The right method is decided after an intraoral examination and X-ray.

Bite firmly on the gauze for the first two hours; do not rinse or spit for 24 hours, as dislodging the clot delays healing. A cold compress reduces swelling on day one. Avoid hot food, smoking and drinking through a straw for 48–72 hours. Contact the clinic if severe pain or continued bleeding occurs.

The general recommendation is every six months. For patients with a history of gum disease, smokers, or those who build up calculus quickly, it may be repeated every three to four months. Most patients feel no pain during the procedure; local anaesthesia can be used where the gums are inflamed or the tooth necks are exposed. Scaling does not wear down the enamel — any sensitivity afterwards comes from the surface previously covered by calculus being exposed, and it settles within a few days.

Yes. The most suitable period is the second trimester (weeks 14–27), when nausea has eased and organ development is complete. Emergencies are treated at any stage. Where an X-ray is required, a localised image is taken with a lead apron. Gum inflammation is common in pregnancy, so regular check-ups matter — please tell your dentist you are pregnant.

Grinding usually happens during sleep without the patient noticing; morning jaw fatigue, headache and tooth wear are the first signs. The mainstay of treatment is a night guard, which stops tooth-to-tooth contact and reduces load on the jaw joint. Stress management and correcting bite problems are also part of the process.

About 85% of cases originate in the mouth: bacterial coating on the tongue, gum inflammation, untreated decay, ill-fitting dentures and dry mouth are the main causes. Adding tongue cleaning and flossing to brushing makes a clear difference in most cases. If no oral cause is found, referral for sinus, stomach or systemic causes follows.

Yes. Baby teeth should not be left untreated on the assumption they will fall out anyway: decay can progress and affect the permanent tooth bud beneath, and a prematurely lost baby tooth causes crowding and future orthodontic need. Pain also directly disrupts a child’s eating and sleep.

Receded gum does not return to its former level on its own, but progression can be stopped. The first step is removing the cause: aggressive brushing, tartar, grinding or a bite problem. In advanced cases a gum graft can cover the exposed root surface. Early intervention is the most effective way to prevent bone and tooth loss.

The decision depends on how much healthy tooth structure remains. Where loss is limited, a composite filling is sufficient. If the tooth has lost substantial structure or has had root canal treatment, a crown is recommended because the fracture risk under chewing forces increases. After examination and, if needed, an X-ray, both options are explained with their durability and duration.

For routine examinations and check-ups, booking a few days ahead is enough. Acute toothache, a broken tooth or swelling need same-day assessment — in those cases please call directly rather than messaging. The clinic is open Monday–Friday, 09:00–18:00.
